MSI X-Slim X460 |
MSI recently expanded its ultraportable offerings with the addition of two last generation X-Slim notebooks. Although they're designed to be lightweight and compact, the MSI X-Slim X460 notebooks also strive to be powerful, courtesy of Intel's Sandy Bridge processors. The flagship model comes with Intel's Core i7-2630QM, packing the quad-core chip while boasting an 8-hour battery life.
There's also the X460DX, which can come configured with Core i3 or i5 processors and the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M GPU. Both the X460 and X460DX share the same dimensions using a 14" LED backlit screen. While ultraportable laptops generally carry a 12 to 13" display, MSI says the X460 strikes a fine balance between mobility and performance.
With enough power to put the average desktop PC to shame, the MSI X-Slim X460 flagship model costs roughly $1,100. Even so, that price tag makes the X460 one of the cheapest second-gen Core i7 notebooks money can buy. Meanwhile, the less-endowed X460DX can be found for around $750 with the Core i3-2310M, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB HDD and the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M. For more details, Please see the full specs below.
MSI X-Slim X460 specs and Features :
The MSI X-Slim X460 have a DVD burner, SD card, three USB ports (two of them are USB 3.0), microphone and headphone ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and VGA. A removable 65-watt-hour battery is seated at the back of the laptop. In our test, run-down, where it disables power management, Wi-Fi (it has a 2.4 GHz Intel Centrino Wireless-N Adapter 1030), optimize display brightness and a video loop encoded by Xvid activate the X460 lasted 3 hours 35 min. It’s a good endurance for a laptop with a 14in quad-core Core i7, and you can get a whole lot more out of it if you lower the brightness, and perform only basic tasks of the Internet and word processing.
For its size, the MSI X-Slim X460 is not as small as other 14in notebooks we’ve seen in recent times as the Acer TravelMate 8481G, and the Dell XPS 14Z, both of which claim to frame 14in monitor that is portable usually 13in screen. It does not mean MSI is huge, is only half the depth and width cents more than the laptop, and is slightly thicker than its shoulders. About 2 kg, do not feel too heavy, but it is not provided substantial power brick (130mm long, often 56 mm in width and 30mm).
